June was a big month for coastal water quality

From House Caucuses to Local events everyone was talking about beaches.

The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association’s (ASBPA) Executive Director, Nicole Elko, addressed the House Coastal Communities Caucus on the economic impact of healthy beaches and how water quality legislation plays a part. 

EPA released their annual funding for beach Water Quality Monitoring programs. The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association and partners know how important monitoring is to protecting healthy community members, visitors, environments, and economies. 

Bradley Beach, New Jersey hosted an in-person event ASBPA Board Member, Tom Herrington, attended with Representative Frank Pallone (who introduced the BEACH Act reauthorization this year), EPA Region 2 Administrator Lisa Garcia, NJ Commissioner of Environmental Protection Shawn LaTourrette, & Bradley Beach Mayor Larry Fox. This event highlighted the funding New Jersey received from the BEACH Act monitoring program.
